Commenting on the National Audit Office report into the sustainability of police forces in England and Wales Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Manchester Gorton, Jackie Pearcey, told Focus "The fact the NAO is now reporting constables are finding it difficult to deliver an effective service is yet another shocking indictment of the government's failure to support our police."

Jackie Pearcey continued saying that "With the number of arrests dropping and violent crimes rising it is the most vulnerable in our communities who need the support and protection of the police."

"The blame for this mess falls squarely on the shoulders of Theresa May, as Home Secretary she was responsible for slashing police budgets and now she appears to be resisting calls for extra spending on police."

Liberal Democrats are demainding that the government immediately increases spending on community police to keep our communities safe.
