About Luke Allan
City Centre Campaigner and City Centre Vice Chair
Luke Allan, born in Lancaster, Lancashire and raised in Craven, North Yorkshire, is an active member of the Liberal Democrats, passionate about equality and community engagement. Joining the party in 2020, Luke swiftly became involved in local and national initiatives, striving for inclusivity and positive change. Currently, he holds significant roles such as Vice Chair of Manchester’s City Centre Liberal Democrats Branch, Treasurer for Manchester Lib Dems Council Group, and is a part of the Executive Committee of LGBT+ Liberal Democrats.
Away from politics, Luke is dedicated to supporting individuals in pursuing their passions and career aspirations through his work in higher education marketing.
Luke's commitment to public service extends beyond his professional and political life. During his time at Sheffield Hallam University, he actively participated in national campaigns with the National Union of Students. He also volunteered with Sexual Health Sheffield for four years and held leadership roles with Pride in Sheffield and was Vice Chair of Sheffield City Council’s LGBT+ Equality Hub. Additionally, Luke served as an Independent Advisor for South Yorkshire Police on LGBT+ Matters, working to improve police relations and conduct.
Showing his strong sense of family duty, Luke relocated to North Yorkshire during the Covid pandemic to care for his grandmother during her brief battle with cancer. During this time, he volunteered as a Section Assistant with his local Scouts district and discovered a passion for mountain biking, which also serves as a practical skill in navigating Manchester’s potholed streets.
Living in the city centre with his partner, Luke enjoys leisurely walks along Manchester’s extensive canal network, dining at diverse eateries with friends, and attempting to sing some of Kylie Minogue’s greatest hits.
